Farewell to Caesar

One reckless driver. One little dog crossing the road. Two broken hearts.

Sage with Caesar the day he came home with us, just over a year ago

The world is full of greater tragedies; broken hearts are a dime a dozen. But for Sage and me, this loss is everything.

We’ll heal. We’re already starting.

But “If only” and “Never again” are hobgoblins, creeping out when I least expect them, ripping open the tentatively knitting wound.

The world is full of greater tragedies; broken hearts are a dime a dozen. But for Sage and me, this feels like the world.

Goodbye, little friend, my son’s companion, bringer of joy to us both.

We’ll miss you.
