The Autumnal Snow

Winter is making an early guest appearance this year: This mid-October day has featured a steady snow. We’re used to seeing a few rogue flakes at this time of year, but this is something else entirely. My winter hating husband is chagrined, but the bright side is: A) Even though at least an inch has accumulated, it’s melting at a rapid clip, so we don’t have to break out the snow shovels QUITE yet, and B) The contrast of autumn foliage and the snow is really darn pretty:

Winter in autumn

Our maple tree in all its splendor stands above the snow.

  1. This is lovely. My sisters and I just got back from a trip to northern PA. We wished for autumnal glory, but the leaves didn’t cooperate. We were too early, I guess.

Thanks for this photo of contrasts. I’ll have to settle for your orange & russet tree this year. Thanks, Rebecca!
